Hoenn didn’t go through the same autumnal changes as other regions. In Galar, for example, the latent, wet, gray heat of summer turned into a wet, gray chill. Alola was either sunshine or rain, and nothing really in between. Johto had real winter, in places, which meant real fall. He hadn’t stayed long enough to experience it.

Hoenn stayed green. He was coming to enjoy it more and more.

Green was his favorite color, after all.

Coquí was hunting bugs through the humid undergrowth and Frollo perched on his shoulder practicing his mimicry of the Politoed’s sounds. His Togekiss hummed through the air above them, hunting aerially for Pokemon-- though whether they found any or not, it was nice just to be out and enjoying the day.

In Fae’s experience, that’s what Hoenn is: a whole lot of green and a whole lot of sea. She knows there’s a desert somewhere out there, but she hasn’t had a chance to visit it, and honestly, she’s pretty sure she’d hate it. She had filmed a couple of action movies in deserts before and it hadn’t been fun at all – especially Orre.

The Mightyena that trots by her side barks in agreement, and the Chatot on her shoulder makes a frog-like sound.

Vivace takes off then, and with a sigh, it’s reluctantly that Fae follows. Eventually, what caught the Chatot’s attention becomes obvious: another Chatot. Perched on a branch, Vivace mimics its sounds.

Frollo cocked his head and looked up, letting off an ear-piercing shriek that had Memo wincing. It was a noise of recognition-- parrots, after all, live in huge, varied family groups, and they yelled all day long.

“I guess that’s why all the articles warned against shoulder birds,” Memo grumbled having the Chatot step up onto his arm. The psittacid quorks affectionately then flutters up to perch next to its new friend.

“Hey,” Memo responds in kind, lifting a hand in greeting. He doesn’t recognize the woman but he can appreciate a good fishnet moment.

There’s a squawk as Coqui’s long tongue smacks against a bug that too big for her to eat-- the angry spider turns and aims a string shot back at the frog, who leaps into the air, coming down to crush it in a bounce. Memo winces at the sound of crunching thorax, zapping the spider in a Pokeball.

“Enjoying the day?”
